ICYMI: Digital go bag, data centers, and other things
A little bit of what’s been going on at Kairos

We’ve been busy over at Kairos in the last few weeks, working on tech analyses and practical guides for organizers fighting back against tech fueled harms. Just in case you missed any of it here’s a round up of what we’ve been up to:
Analysis on Trump & Big Tech’s first 100 days
We’ve officially lived through more than 100 days of the next level of tech-corporate control. But what makes a tech broligarchy different from regular billionaire evil? It’s their plan to resource-grab, enshrine corporate power, and infiltrate and destabilize the government to gain control of the agencies that regulate Big Tech and the data that lines their own pockets. Click here to read a breakdown of some of what we’ve been seeing in the current administration and what we can do about it.
Want to pack your digital bags? Here’s how.
We are witnessing the standards of our major social platforms be negatively altered like never before. Meta gutted fact checking, X is overrun with disinformation and explicit encouragement of fascism, TikTok is always teetering on the edge of existence in the U.S., and all of these social platforms are squashing voices supporting Palestine. Users are choosing to pack their digital bags, but how do you know when it's time to go? And what steps do you need to take, especially if you organize a digital community? Our Digital Go Bag has everything you need to get started. Check it out here.
Data centers webinar
We teamed up with MediaJustice to co-host an episode of their “WTF: The Rise of the Tech Broligarchy” political education series. This episode was on data centers aka Big Tech’s latest extraction scheme. Data centers are the physical manifestation of our digital activity: giant warehouses full of computer servers, chips, and equipment that power AI and other technologies. The problem? Data centers consume immense amounts of electricity, water, and land. The webinar goes into more detail including who and what are behind this rapid expansion and how Tech Bros are using public resources to fund & fuel data center construction at the expense of people like you and me. Data center organizing guide
Data centers cost our communities tremendously and we must fight back. But where do we begin? Alongside the webinar, we introduced a guide to help communities start to find data centers near their and organize for change in their communities. Our organizer guide is here with everything you need to know. Click here to read it.
